USAID reconstructed the elementary school and community center in the small community of Donji Srb that suffered heavy damage during the war. Former Mission Director, Pamela Baldwin discovered a child's painting amongst the rubble of the school during a visit. The painting depicted a peaceful landscape symbolizing the potential for rebirth and economic revitalization. She presented the newly framed painting to the children attending grades 1 - 4 at the opening of the school in 2002.
